Sounds good to me, I'm game. Weather doesn't look that promising, but hard to say when things will be clear or cloudy.
June 6, 2018 at 2:28 am #12333mark your calendars…Sat night June 16 will be clear as a bell.

I'd found NGC 2371/2 a few months back on a pretty good night. With a filter, they were moderately bright even in the city. The dimmer half took averted vision to be sure of.The trick with planetaries is to crank up the power because otherwise, they do look like stars unless there's a tell-tale color difference. I could check my logs, but I probably used 200X as well.

[/quote]June 8, 2018 at 2:48 am #12336National Weather Service and Weatherundergound are forecasting mostly cloudy skies for Friday & Saturday. Not looking so good. . . Keller if we can squeak through the clouds.
June 8, 2018 at 4:39 pm #12337Friday and Saturday night sure aren't looking that good.
If anyone decides to go out, please post and let us know.June 9, 2018 at 4:29 pm #12338It doesn't look good for Eagle Bluff tonight. We'll have a shot next weekend.
June 16, 2018 at 2:06 pm #12339Right now the forecast says 20% cloud cover for tonight, so if that holds, we're thinking about going to Keller tonight.
July 5, 2018 at 6:59 pm #12340It's looking pretty good for this weekend. Is anyone thinking of going out? If you don't want to drive very far you're welcome to come out to my place NE of Oronoco.
July 6, 2018 at 1:07 am #12341I'm looking to head out to Keller Friday night. Anyone else want to go there? Moon won't be up until after 1:00AM, Looks like Mars will rise about 10:38PM, so should get a look at Mars before heading home.

July 6, 2018 at 2:33 am #12342Dean is calling Eagle Bluff tomorrow to see if they have the parking lot open. So that may be a possibility too. I'm interested in doing something this weekend.

July 6, 2018 at 5:42 pm #12343Eagle Bluff sounds pretty good, but not sure if I want to do that tonight (Friday), don't want to stay up that late today. :-\ If it is open and people heading that way today, I'll think about it then. Saturday I would go to Eagle Bluff for sure, don't mind staying up tomorrow night. Tonight, I would do Keller for sure just to stay closer to home and not stay up so late. 🙂

July 6, 2018 at 8:51 pm #12344So, is Eagle Bluff available this weekend.. Friday or Saturday?
July 6, 2018 at 9:25 pm #12345Eagle Bluff is available for both Friday and Saturday. They have some young people there taking firearms safety, but the parking lot lights will be off. No bathroom code yet, but staff will be on hand.
I can't make it tonight, we have military graveside rites for a 21 yr. old that lost his life on the USS Oklahoma in Rushford tomorrow. The sailor died in the Pearl Harbor attack and I need to be well rested. This will be one for the ages because there will be color guards from Lake City all the way to Wisconsin and Iowa.
I can make it tomorrow night, but I hope the RAC has a good turnout tonight. Have a Glorious Night for Astronomy!
July 6, 2018 at 9:57 pm #12346tomorrow night sounds good to me!
