Anyone else thinking of heading out to Root River — assuming the clouds cooperate later this evening?

Love to join you at Eagle Bluff, but need to keep it a short night.

Will be heading out to Keller for a couple of hours.

Lets go see some stars (and your smiling, bundled up faces)!

If Santa didn't bring you what you wanted for Christmas, how about a new Green (or red or blue) laser pointer from Z-Bolt. American made. Discount until Jan 31st.

          Astronomy Kit: https://www.custom-laser-pointers.com/lithium-515nm-low-temp-astronomy-kit

          Closeouts:  https://www.custom-laser-pointers.com/closeout-laser-specials

They have an extreme temp (14-222 degree) lasers.  And even a Military Briefer GLP to show your favorite branch colors.

We have been very happy with our Z-Bolts.

Any thoughts of a replay this weekend? Root River or Keller or even Eagle Bluff?

If the weather holds, we'll have the 2017 StarBQ, just south of Spring Grove. Expect more updates on Wednesday/Thursday.

Anyone for Keller Sunday Night?  (if it clears up).

Great night last night!  Great turn out. Would have liked to talk with everyone more, especially our guests. The Northern Lights even made an appearance.

For tonight, rain looks like it will hold off until tomorrow. Dew points look good. Unfortunately, cloud cover projected at 30%.

Anyone interested in a repeat? Possibly at Keller?

If it's clear (before midnight) and If the StarBQ is off: Would anyone else want to head out to Keller?

Checked 3 different weather sites. The reports are altered since this morning but each reporting something slightly different. All of them predict rain moving in after 11pm. High percentage of clouds.

Tomorrow (Saturday) They say slight chance of rain, less clouds, but foggy (100%).

Anyone one have a crystal ball or a Vidal (hair dryer)?

Thoughts about postponing until next week (Labor Day): Who already has plans/commitments? Weather is totally a WAG (Wild A.. Guess) that far out.

It was soooo good to be back under the stars on Saturday. While it wasn't an all-nighter for everyone, it was enjoyable until about 2pm when the river bottom fog started to roll in. Jerome was going to check out the viewing of disperse objects. He hear about this technique to "enjoy" the fog at the Missouri start party he attended last year. I'm looking forward to a report on how it worked?

Most of the usual crowd was there, Randy, Jerome, Dean, Barb, Julie, Chris and AstroBoy, Mike, Mike (from LaCrosse), and Mike (new member).

So many good observations I don't know where to start and still keep it short. We started the night by watching the Lanesboro fireworks. Later in the evening, meteors were evident: several with long lasting trails and one with a fireball.

The popcorn and refreshments added to the comradery.

Next time I'll remember to bring along the zero gravity chairs so I don't get a back ache from staring up so long.

All in all, A Glorious Night For Astronomy!

Due to other commitments, we're planning to hit Keller after 9pm tonight. Although it won't be a late night (or early morning) as we'd like to have plenty of reserve for Sat/Sun at Eagle Bluff.

Anyone have plans for observing this weekend?  Keller, Eagle Bluff, (at home), some other remote location?

                            Is Eagle Bluff open?

Friday, June 10th doesn't look so good. But Saturday early evening might be OK. If it's clear, anyone interested in Keller?

If it's clear Friday Night, would anyone be up for a Keller?

NOAA is projecting 10-15 mph tomorrow with occasional gust to 18. Not sure which model will be right, but we'll definitely check again tomorrow afternoon.

We're planning to be out at Keller tonight, *IF* it looks patchy enough to get some viewing in. We'll check in before we head out (7pm?).
