I've leased a small amount of land from a good friend down near Wykoff and I'm building a roll-off roof observatory to provide for my imaging efforts. It's a dark, private and relatively secure location where I've parked my travel trailer as my home away from home. No electricity or other hookups but I'm making do with solar power and a generator.
Since I'm just leasing the land, I don't want to put up anything too permanent. So no pier and the 8×12 building is built on skids and could be moved if necessary.
This last weekend I started construction and have only gotten as far as the foundation skids and the floor. Here's a picture before I completed the plywood flooring. As you can see, I'm isolating the tripod from the floor. My build album can be seen here. https://www.cloudynights.com/gallery/image/48237-home-on-the-range/
Here's a recent image I captured from this site.

BobJuly 19, 2017 at 7:26 pm #13026I've been using an Explore Scientific 80mm refractor with a Atik 460ex camera. But I also have a Explore Scientific 127mm refractor that I need to do some more work with before deciding between them. The 80mm has an awesome Moonlight focuser on it and it makes life so much easier that it get's the nod more often. The weight difference between the two is another factor.
