The ISS has started to be visible in the evening. In fact for the few days, it will be visible for each pass all night long.
Also, anyone up for social distance observing on Friday? Looks like it may be clear. To be socially distant, not sure how many can be at like Root River. I was thinking perhaps going there.

clear skies, jimMay 17, 2020 at 3:04 pm #12566Jim, too bad you couldn't have made it on Friday. It was a great night. There were 5 of us: Dean, Barb, Randy, Dave, and me. Nice and clear night and no dew! Couldn't believe there was no dew, usually some will build.. at least no dew up until I left. I left about midnight and Dean, Barb, and Randy were still there. The first 2 ISS passes were spectacular, I don't know how long others stayed or if they saw the other passes. There was going to be 5 visible passes that night. All in all a glorious night.
JeffMay 18, 2020 at 8:10 pm #12567Dean and I were there until about 2am, when high clouds started to come in. We didn?t see any other ISS passes. ☹️ However we were there long enough to see Jupiter and Saturn rise, and we believe we had a gegenschein sighting! (Right after Randy left, 🙂). Other discoveries included a probable sighting of Barnard?s Star.
Hopefully we?ll get a good observing night this weekend too!
May 29, 2020 at 11:35 pm #12568Looks like it is clearing up. Anyone up to getting a little moon shine and cool weather tonight? Root River or Keller?
May 30, 2020 at 2:21 am #12569I'm just going to stick around at home tonight.. but… looks like it is supposed to stay clear into tomorrow night. Anyone interested in socially distance observing tomorrow night, Saturday? Plenty of moon and looks like again pretty cool.
