What time?
October 23, 2014 at 8:00 pm #11913On a different topic, I didn't see anything regarding an outreach event for the partial eclipse. Is anyone setting up their solar scope?
October 23, 2014 at 8:36 pm #11914Waiting for things to clear out. I'll just be looking from my house as I don't know what will be happening with the clouds.
October 23, 2014 at 8:56 pm #11915No eclipse yet, but a nice big sun spot.
October 23, 2014 at 9:48 pm #11916I was walking around the neighborhood a bit, not too many people: home. Eclipse started a little before 4:30 I think. Nice little chunk gone already.
October 23, 2014 at 10:18 pm #11917Houses too big to my west. Already losing the sun. Probably not much longer. Nice partial eclipse though.
October 23, 2014 at 11:37 pm #11918It was nice while it lasted. Sun was behind houses and hills by 5:40. Counting up, looks like I had 16 people seeing the eclipse with either the scope or the eclipse shades. Good time!
October 25, 2014 at 1:03 am #11919At least you had a better event than no event like here in Spring Grove.
Jeff, I'm really happy you got to see most of it. Well done!
AGDFA!
October 26, 2014 at 11:58 pm #11920What a great night at the Star-B-Q. I finally packed it in at 4 am. I got some great exposures of a part of the Cygnus loop, the Pleiades, the Flame nebula and the Orion nebula. http://www.astrobin.com/131837/
I also tried my hand at imaging Jupiter, but didn't get the camera gain right. Still lots of fun, thanks everyone!October 28, 2014 at 11:39 pm #11921Very fun to have you there, Jack. Imagining is something that has been around from time to time, but not on a consistent basis. It is a wonderful adjunct to our collective astronomy experience.
I hope you share your images at the November meeting. I cannot make it because that is Veterans Day and I am Commander of Legion Post 249 here in Spring Grove. I have to do my duty to the community, state and nation.
Have fun! I hope to see the cleaned up images sometime. They sure looked great in your trailer.
November 14, 2014 at 3:05 pm #11922Call me crazy, but I just can't pass up the opportunity tonight with a forecast of a clear sky and a 1am moon rise. I think I'll be at Keller trying to image IC 5067 in Cygnus. The long range forecast for next weekend looks not-so-good. :-\
November 14, 2014 at 4:46 pm #11923Jack, I won't call you crazy. I'd call you one cool dude, 8) … especially probably by 9PM. ;D
December 19, 2014 at 8:28 pm #11924Dear Santa:
Thank you for all the of equipment you brougt last year.
I really have been good this year, at least I've been trying. Just ask my wife. I wasn't using my new scope to evesdrop on my neighbors, I was just sighting it in. Honest.
I know I shouldn't ask for too much, I've already got a lot of stuff. So with little place to store anything new this year, I have a different kind of request.
For this year, could you bring a little nice weather. I miss seeing my friends.
Sincerely,
Dark Sky Observer #3782.December 23, 2014 at 1:39 am #11925I feel like I haven't observed since October… oh wait, I haven't! That was probably the last time the stars were out too.
December 24, 2014 at 2:19 am #11926"When they heard the king, they departed; and behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy." – Matthew 2:9
