Friday night IS looking good. I am really tempted to see the possible meteor storm at the Flatin farm because of the 360 horizon.
Eagle Bluff is available, what does everybody think?
Our plans for the weekend are not settled yet, so if anyone goes anywhere, I may Kirk it*.
I have the Obsession 18 out on the driveway tonight. Mars is showing incredible detail! Some of the best views I've seen. Planetary markings (no canals!) and a bright northern ice cap are surprising prominent.
*RAC slang for showing up late, from seemingly out of nowhere
I still would like to see it from the Flatin Farm. The sky and horizons are so much better, plus we wouldn't have any conflict with the barracks and sidewalk lights.
I will contact them tomorrow for the codes to get into the building for the restrooms.
The Flatin Farm is in Iowa. Just a few miles south of Spring grove. It does have very dark skies and great horizons.
The Flatin Farm is where Dean hosts the StarBQ every year. If you find some of info on the StarBQ, it probably has directions. Also, for me, Eagle Bluff a little under 40 miles, Flatin Farm about 75 miles.
Will the lights be off and will we have access to the restrooms at Eagle Bluff if you're not there, Dean? I'm considering going to Keller if EB is up in the air.
