It was soooo good to be back under the stars on Saturday. While it wasn't an all-nighter for everyone, it was enjoyable until about 2pm when the river bottom fog started to roll in. Jerome was going to check out the viewing of disperse objects. He hear about this technique to "enjoy" the fog at the Missouri start party he attended last year. I'm looking forward to a report on how it worked?
Most of the usual crowd was there, Randy, Jerome, Dean, Barb, Julie, Chris and AstroBoy, Mike, Mike (from LaCrosse), and Mike (new member).
So many good observations I don't know where to start and still keep it short. We started the night by watching the Lanesboro fireworks. Later in the evening, meteors were evident: several with long lasting trails and one with a fireball.
The popcorn and refreshments added to the comradery.
Next time I'll remember to bring along the zero gravity chairs so I don't get a back ache from staring up so long.
All in all, A Glorious Night For Astronomy!
