Eagle Bluff is OPEN for us Friday night. Dean plans to be there around 7:30pm at the corner of the road before the parking lot to observe the almost-new moon very close to Jupiter before heading down to the parking lot.
I'm in Rochester for a few months and would like to attend if you have room. I am a member of the Grand Traverse Astronomical Society in Traverse City Michigan and I'm missing our star parties. I'm staying at the Gift of Life transplant house and need to get out for a while. Any thing I need to know?
Would love to have you join us EHolmes. I live in Rochester and would be going down to Eagle Bluff around 6PM on Friday night. You would be welcome to ride with me or follow me in your own vehicle. If you try to get to Eagle Bluff Environmental Nature Center on your own using Google Maps be sure to take the route that stays on Highway 52 all the way to Fountain Mn and then heads to the East. Any other Google Map route would be on back roads. Give me a call if you like. My cell number is 507-993-3414. Jerome
Eholmes – Feel free to call me any time other than between 3AM and 5PM. I am unavailable during the day tomorrow. It is OK to call tonight up until to 3AM in the morning or call me after 5PM tomorrow. Jerome
Thanks for your reply Jerome. I'll give you a call later to let you know if I'm driving tonight. I would at least follow you if it works out. Looking forward to a good night! Emmett Holmes One note, I have a speech problem from a previous cancer so you'll know if it's me talking to you.
Great night last night! Great turn out. Would have liked to talk with everyone more, especially our guests. The Northern Lights even made an appearance.
For tonight, rain looks like it will hold off until tomorrow. Dew points look good. Unfortunately, cloud cover projected at 30%.
Anyone interested in a repeat? Possibly at Keller?
What a great Friday night at Eagle Bluff! I think we really saw significant phase of Mars nad it's polar cap. Mars has now size 10.3" and phase 0.85. Here is picture from June 17 by Damian Peach with polar cap (17.7", 0.96), see https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CrdPNk3WYAAGEJC.jpg
