Well, I have to complement WeatherUnderground’s forecast for tonight and hope you changed your mind and were able to observe tonight  Josef!  Not able to go, I will nonetheless get out in my observatory for a bit of galaxy observing later tonight.  Hope those able to be at Eagle Bluff have a great Messier Marathon!

An still image from a video taken April 21, 2002 shown below.  Lots of big sunspots!  I used the Starblast 4.5 in reflector with full sun filter and the Orion 6.3 megapixel color camera.

Is it going to be clear enough Friday night to go observe somewhere?  Anyone else interested, perhaps Root River?  Looks like it may be clear to start, but start clouding up.

We do have the outreach at Root River on Saturday night.  We could have a practice round on Friday.

Things are sure looking good right now.  If you’re going, I’ll probably go as well.

I’ll be heading out to Root River tonight.  Sunset is a little before 8:45.  There will be an ISS pass around 10:35.

#$#@%& clouds have moved in. Looking at a satellite map, doesn’t look like they are going to lessen. I think we’ll have to scrub viewing tonight…😢

Yeah, doesn’t look that good out there.  I guess I’ll skip tonight as well.   🙁

We’ve cancelled our public event at Root River tonight. Between the 28% cloud cover and high winds, we felt that the night could be disappointing for the public if we are not able to find deeper sky objects to look at. If things improve, I might still head out.

I’m going to head out there. It looks like it might clear up later. We will see!

Anyone else thinking of heading out to Root River — assuming the clouds cooperate later this evening?

The sun continues to be active and interesting.  Below is image from today (6/20/2022) taken with the 4.5 inch Starblast reflector (with Orion sun filter) and the Orion 6.3 Mpixel camera.
