Eagle Bluff is available for both Friday and Saturday. They have some young people there taking firearms safety, but the parking lot lights will be off. No bathroom code yet, but staff will be on hand.I can't make it tonight, we have military graveside rites for a 21 yr. old that lost his life on the USS Oklahoma in Rushford tomorrow. The sailor died in the Pearl Harbor attack and I need to be well rested. This will be one for the ages because there will be color guards from Lake City all the way to Wisconsin and Iowa.
I can make it tomorrow night, but I hope the RAC has a good turnout tonight. Have a Glorious Night for Astronomy!

July 6, 2018 at 11:07 pm #12350Randy, sure, that sounds good, Keller tonight and Eagle Bluff tomorrow. I think I may be up for a twofer weekend. 🙂
July 6, 2018 at 11:32 pm #12351Great! I'm planning on both. I thought they quit making weekends like this anymore!
July 7, 2018 at 12:57 am #12352Sounds like a plan to me.
Clear skies everyone.July 7, 2018 at 1:14 am #12353We're planning on Keller tonight. See you there.
July 7, 2018 at 8:42 pm #12354Weather forecast is looking good. Planning on Eagle Bluff tonight (Sat).
July 7, 2018 at 8:45 pm #12355Mutant clouds foiled most of our efforts last night at Keller. We blamed it on all Mike C:/. For no good reason; just had to blame someone. Hopefully better luck at Eagle Bluff tonight!
July 8, 2018 at 3:15 pm #12356Couldn?t make it to the sky viewings this weekend as I was camping at Chesterwoods. Stayed up late last night watching the stars and doing a little astrophotography with my camera. Beautifully clear night!
July 10, 2018 at 11:26 pm #12357Was up early this morning (July 10th) and although the temp was close to the dewpoint skies from 1 am to 3 am were good for observing (at the Fealey observatory). Mars was bright but surface detail was muted (perhaps by the near global dust storm). Saturn was glorious as usual. Milky Way was visible arching high overhead. M22, M13, M32, M110, M57 were great objects to contemplate in the 10 inch. Had to use the hair dryer at 3am to clear the optical plate prior to closing up for the night.

jimAugust 8, 2018 at 3:50 pm #12359Funny you should ask about Eagle Bluff! I just talked to them and the parking lot lights will be off both Friday and Saturday nights.
