July 2, 2016 at 8:50 pm #12082So, what's the official word for tonight? It's looking a cloudy to me. What say you?
July 2, 2016 at 9:00 pm #12083I'm aiming for Sunday night at Eagle Bluff. Tonight is looking a little iffy cloud-wise.
July 3, 2016 at 12:53 am #12084Yeah, looking at the radar its going to be mostly cloudy. But Sunday night looks good. Fingers crossed!
July 3, 2016 at 3:30 am #12085i have to work Monday so i will be at Keller Sunday night, unless
we're totally socked in with clouds…or i feel like crap from allergies 🙁July 3, 2016 at 11:28 pm #12086Looking back through the posts, sounded like several people might go to EB tonight. Looks good right now, so we're planning to drive down.
July 7, 2016 at 2:08 am #12087It was soooo good to be back under the stars on Saturday. While it wasn't an all-nighter for everyone, it was enjoyable until about 2pm when the river bottom fog started to roll in. Jerome was going to check out the viewing of disperse objects. He hear about this technique to "enjoy" the fog at the Missouri start party he attended last year. I'm looking forward to a report on how it worked?
Most of the usual crowd was there, Randy, Jerome, Dean, Barb, Julie, Chris and AstroBoy, Mike, Mike (from LaCrosse), and Mike (new member).
So many good observations I don't know where to start and still keep it short. We started the night by watching the Lanesboro fireworks. Later in the evening, meteors were evident: several with long lasting trails and one with a fireball.
The popcorn and refreshments added to the comradery.
Next time I'll remember to bring along the zero gravity chairs so I don't get a back ache from staring up so long.
All in all, A Glorious Night For Astronomy!
July 9, 2016 at 5:33 pm #12088i hate all the humidity but i will probably be at Keller
tonight. i just hope i can stay up later than last time 😉
jimJuly 27, 2016 at 3:23 am #12089What's it going to be like this weekend? Clear? Eagle Bluff open? Get some pre-StarBQ observing and get ready for StarBQ.
Hey, ISS passing over again. Surprised me, just took out the garbage and caught the ISS starting its pass. Came from around Mars, Saturn, and Antares. Very bright, those bright objects didn't come close to comparing. I just took a look and says it was going to be a magnitude -3.1 and I would have to say it had to be very close to that. Bright! For the next couple of days you can catch it in the morning and in the evening, all night long. 5 visible passes today and tomorrow and I think 6 the day after that. Some good viewing of the ISS if things are clear.
Here is link for passes:
Enjoy..
July 28, 2016 at 1:01 pm #12090Another bright pass, -3.3, tonight of the ISS starting about 9:54. I'll have to get out and have a look, if I remember. Should be a good one, bright and looks to go straight overhead.
July 28, 2016 at 1:11 pm #12091looks like Saturday night may be best at the moment.
I will go wherever everyone else is going…
