Hi, we are trying to contact Eagle Bluff to confirm for lights off and bathroom code.  Friday night (May 7) is looking good albeit chilly.  Hopefully they’ll respond quickly tomorrow.

Eagle Bluff would be perfect. Fingers crossed the weather holds up. If we don’t hear anything about EB, we can always do Root River.

Today (4/25) the C3 video shows Mercury (racing towards its best appearance in mid May in the western sky) nearly passing Venus in the C3 field of view.

I’m still using my modified Canon 70D. I did grab some photos of the Horse Head, but I noticed some of the smaller stars were a little out of focus. I’ll still post it later this week. Got to say, that CGX mount is very impressive.

Have to agree with Josef, Mike a very nice picture with you new scope!  (BTW what camera did you use?).  Your new scope should also be great on planetary pics.

I am still amazed how SOHO C3 (above) provides a window into the inner planets and the sun.  Watch how the brightness of Mercury on the right is decreasing while that of Venus (left) is increasing.  Note also how Mercury is moving faster around the sun and passing the background stars than is Venus.

Hey everyone, first post on the new forum! Looks great! Anyway, here’s a photo of the flame nebula. This was taken with my new EdgeHD 1100 W/CGX mount. Next investment might be a new ZWO camera, fingers crossed!

Mercury has now joined Venus in the SOHO C3 fov.  Both are near their superior conjunction (Venus past and Mercury approaching).  The C3 gif video also shows a possible CME from today.
