Eagle Bluff just confirmed that the parking lot is available tonight and tomorrow night for observing and the lights will be off. Wish I could be there, but I’m in Staples watching grandkids…
See 2024 Observing thread for update about Eagle Bluff.
Oops, just noticed that you asked about location. We’re heading to EB.
At this point we’re planning on tonight
The way I left it with EB, they will be prepared for us to be there either or both Friday or Saturday night.
It does look like possibly some clouds moving in later tonight, but right now looking clear tomorrow night. So maybe holding out for Saturday night makes sense.
See the 2024 Observing thread for info on Eagle Bluff observing.
I just talked to Eagle Bluff. Even though it’s very late notice, the parking lot is available to us tonight and tomorrow night! I’m not positive yet if I’ll make it down. If by chance the staff didn’t get the lights turned off, go to the entrance to the dorm building (where the bathrooms are) and there should be a way to contact the staff. I have the bathroom code that is valid for tonight and tomorrow night. I don’t want to post it here, so text or call me at 507-251-5927 if you want it.
New moon is next Wednesday, so the following is also a dark sky weekend. Tentatively EB should be available Friday and Saturday that weekend as well, but EB will confirm next week.
I’m contemplating coming out tonight. How late do you figure, Joseph?
What time are you thinking of going out?
I called Eagle Bluff today. The parking lot will be available for our use on both September 23 and 24. I will be back in touch with them later next week as the weather situation develops and post on this thread again. Sounded like they would appreciate having an idea as to when members would be coming. They will have a couple of groups there; I assured Doc that as always we are happy to have them come out and share the skies with us.
On a sad note, I shared the news of Dean’s passing with him. Doc was pretty surprised since he had spoken with Dean about possible observing the last weekend of August.
#$#@%& clouds have moved in. Looking at a satellite map, doesn’t look like they are going to lessen. I think we’ll have to scrub viewing tonight…😢
We’re thinking about Root River…
Does anyone have a binoviewer like this?
I would love to have a chance to take a look through one…
Mike, would you do Root River or Keller if Eagle Bluff isn’t an option?
I heard that Dean might be working with Eagle Bluff, but not sure which night it was going to be. I’d like to go out.
