I’m old enough to remember the launch of the Hubble telescope. And right after that, the surprising image sharpness problems. NASA came out with a call this year for the 35th anniversary of the Hubble launch, basically for anyone interested in watching the sky overhead. All an observer has to do is tell others about the challenge and they’ll spot the same object that Hubble observed. Details are on NASA’s website and also on Astroleague. It is also possible to organize observations at local level and give certificates.
I decided to accept the challenge and try to reach the silver level every month.
January: M42, M1, M43, M78, M79, C46
January 19 was a very cold evening, the temperature was around zero and dropping, but it was clear. I set out to photograph the planet Mars, but especially the Orion M42 nebula. Below is an image of the Orion Nebula and also a large part of the constellation Orion the Hunter.
