      I am new to the club and astronomy in general.

      I heard there may be a club telescope(s) available for members to borrow.  I am considering purchasing an 8" dobs, so if the club has something similar, I'd love to borrow it for awhile to 'try' before I 'buy'.

        I have a 8" SCT that you might borrow … but its an old equatorial fork mount and not a DOB!  Still it will give you an idea of what can be seen with an 8 inch mirror.

          i think we also have an 8" dob that someone has out
          at the moment…

            I went ahead and bought an Orion Xt8 Plus.

            Do I get some sort of badge for doing my first collimation ?  <jk>    (Actually, it was *way* easier than I expected)

            Looking forward to some warmer temps and clear skies.

              i imagine Dean might have a badge for you…now if it could
              only warm up enough to do some observing. good luck!
