Too late Barb, I was already gone.   Sun setting before 7:30, I like to get there around that time.  :)
Somewhat surprising, nobody was saying anything..  so I guess they are still heading down there..  and I went.   :)
Nobody there and figured, I guess everyone is smarter than me, oh well.   :D
Definitely not too could low down.  Jupiter was visible when I got there.  I decided to set up the scope to at least see Jupiter and Saturn.  I found Saturn soon after Jupiter, easy to find at that time, just a little to the left.  Jupiter was nice with all 4 moons strung out on the one side, mother hen and her little chicks following, almost a straight line, really nice.  Hard to pick things out visually in the haze.  The summer triangle was there.  I did find M27, the Dumbbell, surprised me.  Other Messiers were, M13, M11, M57.  The Ring was almost straight up and was easy to see.  I also had the ISS pass starting around 8:03 or so when it came out the soup.  Hard to see things by eye, but using binos or scopes and plenty of stars visible out there.  I left about 9:10 or so.   I was going to wait to see Mars, but I decided there was too much soup to climb up through to wait for it.

Just checking to see if I can post anything.  I've been unable to do so for the last 3 days or so.  Will try again today Oct 8.  No, didn't allow a post; same message: the upload folder is full.

I came across this at one point too. I saw Mars tonight, and it was definitely the best I've ever seen it. It wasn't disappointing for a change.

Definitely agree with you Luka!  Obtained a reasonable video although the seeing was only fair at 12:30 am when taken.  I can't post the stacked final image here however as the upload folder is full (as I understand it).

Perhaps I can post a link to a Mars photo taken on Oct. 6th.  The telescope was a Meade 10 inch LX90 equatorially mounted,  the camera a StarShoot 6.3 Mpixel mini color from Orion, imaging software was SharpCap Pro and Registax6 was used to stack and enhance the image.  I found a Hubble Mars image showing a similar view with identification of surface features, some of which can be seen in photo.  Link is here: https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=1530708690449619&set=a.254876668032834.  If the link doesn't work check out the photo below. (thanks John M. for fixing this!)

Sunspot image taken yesterday 11-28-2020.  Sunspot AR 2786 is one of the largest in quite a while.  (Taken with a sun-filtered StarBlast 4.5" reflector and Orion 6.3 Mpixel camera).

Been a long time! Eagle Bluff is available for us tomorrow (Saturday) night. Dean and I are planning on a few hours there. We will confirm tomorrow afternoon...

Would love to be there as well.  But, just got a SkyFi 3 and want to get it set up with my observatory scope tonite.  If things go smoothly I may come out.

Love to join you at Eagle Bluff, but need to keep it a short night.

Will be heading out to Keller for a couple of hours.

Lets go see some stars (and your smiling, bundled up faces)!

Barb or Dean, is Eagle Bluff open this weekend?  Friday night looks like it will be clear.  I know we talked about going out again this weekend.  Friday looks like it will be clearer than Saturday.

Last Saturday, there were 4 of us at Eagle Bluff.   A great night, Barb (Ellenvega) is fantastic at finding things.   She found some carbon stars and Ghost of Jupiter(?) among other things.  I was mainly looking around at some Messiers.  We left around 10:30, or at least I think everyone was getting ready to leave.   It was Dean, Barb, Luka and me.

Carbon stars are beautiful and interesting to find.  Several years ago I compiled the attached list.  Happy hunting!
