C2 gif movies from today show Venus moving away from its superior sun conjunction.  Note also what appears to be a small sun-grazing comet (probably vaporizing) early on the 31st of March. https://sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov/data/LATEST/current_c2.gif

Nice night (3/19/2021) for observing with the little StarBlast scope.  Took a short video of the moon through the scope with Orion moon filter and 6.3M pixel camera.  A still pic from the video (enhanced a bit) is shown below.

Yep Jeff, we are planning on Friday night at Eagle Bluff again!  Looks like a carbon copy of last Saturday, but maybe a bit colder so bundle up and bring a hot beverage.  Will confirm it here tomorrow afternoon.

Well, apparently attachments show up only in certain views of the forum.  If you don't see it, go to the main category "Observing Tonight".

Carbon stars are beautiful and interesting to find.  Several years ago I compiled the attached list.  Happy hunting!

Barb or Dean, is Eagle Bluff open this weekend?  Friday night looks like it will be clear.  I know we talked about going out again this weekend.  Friday looks like it will be clearer than Saturday.

Last Saturday, there were 4 of us at Eagle Bluff.   A great night, Barb (Ellenvega) is fantastic at finding things.   She found some carbon stars and Ghost of Jupiter(?) among other things.  I was mainly looking around at some Messiers.  We left around 10:30, or at least I think everyone was getting ready to leave.   It was Dean, Barb, Luka and me.
