I am going to try to get down there and set up the Lunt for a while.  I'll have my daughter along, so probably depart as temps drop at dusk.

Anyone planning on being there early enough for solar observing?

We always set up in the upper parking lot above the main campus.  Dim lights when you get to EB's main entrance sign.  Scopes and parking are both in the parking lot on the left before the guardhouse.  You can get into the parking lot at either right away  just past the sign or down by the guardhouse.

See you at Keller!  I was toying with the idea of setting up in time for some solar viewing.

Bill,  The TCAA folks who hosted NCRAL 2016 in Bloomington/Normal, IL participate in some kind of newsletter exchange.  That may be worth investigating.  Kirk

It would be good to get interested parties together to discuss this project, next steps, etc.

I awoke this morning to a rare phenomenon: large ring-shaped smudges on my eyeglasses!  It was good to get out observing; It had been far too long!  Thanks for hosting, Randy!

Fifteen minutes into Saturday morning the northern sky had cleared from the Summer Triangle to Ursa Major.  It's looking like that was the best opportunity for some scope time this weekend and I should have set up shop again after I got home from the event.

Got to take a peek at comet C/2014 Q2 Lovejoy at about midnight last night!

The snow didn't live up to the hype, but I got another observation of this comet Lovejoy tonight.

Anyone want to get out in organized fashion this evening?  How is the horizon from the OMC Parking lot where we did transit of Venus?
